Counter-Strike 2 and older material
Valve’s Steam listing identifies Counter-Strike 2 as the current product title. Older guides may refer to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Preserve that distinction when using historical tournament records or technical descriptions; an older name is not sufficient evidence for a current event’s settings.
Rounds sit inside maps
For result-reading purposes, a round score belongs to a map, while a series score counts maps won. In a best-of-three example, a team winning two maps takes the series. A scoreboard showing 1–0 can be ambiguous without its label: it may be a round count early in a map or a series lead.
Record map and overtime context
12Play names CS2 in the esports category. It does not establish every competition’s map selection process or overtime format. Keep the event, stage, map name and score scope together. Regulation rounds and overtime should be identified explicitly when a result includes both, rather than borrowing rules from another tournament.
Quick reference
- Round
- A unit of play within a map. Round scores should retain the map name and whether overtime is included.
- Map
- One contest in a possible multi-map series. The first map’s winner need not become the overall series winner.
- Series
- The collection of maps governed by the event’s announced format. Best-of examples explain counting and do not verify a particular fixture.
- Map selection
- Selection and exclusion procedures belong to tournament rules. Do not assume that a public matchmaking setting establishes the tournament’s map order.

Common question
Is a CS2 map result the same as a series result?
Only in a single-map contest. A multi-map series has a separate overall result based on maps won.
