The Nexus is the central objective
Riot’s introduction describes two teams of five champions and the objective of destroying the opposing Nexus. Lanes, jungle areas and structures give context to how a game develops. A kill score alone is not the official objective or a complete account of the result.
LoL is a title, not a provider name
LoL is the common abbreviation for League of Legends. In an esports directory, keep that title separate from the provider carrying a listing, the tournament organiser and the team names. The same game may appear in multiple competitions with different stages or series formats.
Read results at the correct level
The brand page includes League of Legends. For a hypothetical best-of-three series, a 2–1 result represents three completed games, not champion eliminations. A first-game result and a series result are different records. Tournament rules are also needed to interpret remakes, pauses and forfeits; publisher gameplay guidance does not settle operator terms.
Quick reference
- Champion
- The in-game character selected by a player. A champion name should not be treated as a team member’s account or roster identity.
- Nexus
- The opposing base objective described by Riot. Its destruction decides the normal game objective rather than a comparison of total kills.
- Lane / jungle
- These describe areas and roles within the game. They provide match context but are not separate games within a series.
- Best-of-three example
- A team can lose the opening game and win the next two to take the series 2–1. A first-game winner and series winner can differ.

Common question
Do more kills automatically mean a League of Legends win?
No. Riot identifies the opposing Nexus as the objective. Kill counts describe activity within the game rather than replacing the game result.
